Forge Your Own Gong Workshop

Practitioners Involved: Gabrielle Songbird, Heather Cowen, Ton Akkermans and Carolina Schomper

Venues Used: The Farm

Date / Time: Tuesday 1st (afternoon) - evening of Saturday 5th October

Price: £950 includes non-refundable deposit of £250 additional cost for materials (metal and beater) based on market price at point of our buying and could range between £45 - £200 depending on size and type used (phosphor bronze or brass).

We are thrilled to announce our second collaborative creation with our friends and mentors, Ton Akkermans and Carolina Schomper at a venue perfectly designed for big work in the south of England.

We will spend four days and some evenings dedicated to the forging and crafting of your own brass or bronze gong and the effects of sound in the process of forging and creating with these materials.

This workshop is especially open to those who have made a bowl or two with us or Ton in the past years and who really desire the experience of forging and crafting a larger instrument. The gongs are large - from 26cm to 40cm - and follow a different process of making to the bowls. It is desirable for the maker to have a foundation of working the metal as a singing bowl before undertaking the making of a gong.
